An expense tracker that never asks for your bank account
No Plaid, no bank credentials, no ads, no subscription. You log what you spend, and the data stays on your device.
Bank-linked budgeting apps ask you to hand over read access to your entire financial history. That pipe is usually run by a third-party aggregator, and the resulting dataset is valuable to people who are not you.
SpndX has no such screen. There is nothing to connect, which also means there is nothing to breach, revoke, or quietly monetise.
What "no bank linking" gets you
No aggregator in the loop
SpndX does not integrate Plaid or any equivalent. Your banking credentials are never requested, transmitted, or stored.
Fast capture without the feed
Manual entry takes seconds, and in India you can scan a vendor UPI QR code to fill in the details automatically.
Catches what bank feeds miss
Cash, split-with-a-friend reimbursements, and informal transfers never show up correctly in an automated feed. Logged expenses do.
No ads, no subscription
There is no premium tier and no ad inventory, so there is no business reason to profile your spending.
Frequently asked questions
- Does SpndX ever ask for my bank login?
- No. SpndX does not use Plaid or any bank aggregation service and has no screen that asks for banking credentials. You log expenses yourself, or capture them from a UPI QR code.
- Are there ads or a subscription?
- Neither. SpndX shows no ads and has no paid tier. Because there is no bank data to monetise and no ad inventory, the incentive to harvest your spending history does not exist.
- Where is my spending data stored?
- On your device, in a local database. Cloud sync is optional and only runs if you create an account and turn it on.
The trade-off, stated plainly
Manual logging is a real cost: you have to remember to do it. In exchange you get an accurate record that includes cash, no credential risk, and an app that works with no connection.
In practice the habit takes a few days to form, and capture takes about five seconds per expense.
